Faith to Embrace God’s Call

The deliverance of God’s people from Egypt began with an act of faith. The parents of Moses faced a choice, and they decided to take action. They knew that the Pharaoh had ordered all male babies to be killed, but they “were not afraid” of this edict; they trusted that God would protect their son.

Generations of God’s people have faced similar circumstances—the threats of kings and armies, countless forms of intimidation and persecution, laws and warnings, the pressure of peer groups and popular customs. And many have yielded, afraid to resist, unwilling to stand against the tide.

While many have faced life-threatening terror, others have experienced lesser distractions and tempting alternatives, such as the pressure to conform, the allure of fame and riches, the pursuit of pleasure and popularity.

Yes, the call of God can seem challenging. It can mean embracing paths that are difficult. It can mean stepping aside from personal desires and stepping into the vast unknown. Yes, it means dying to self, for “unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12:24).

People who live by faith are the ones who move mountains and accomplish great things for God. They understand spiritual truths and receive God’s riches and abundance. They change the world because they trust in God and seek first His Kingdom.

Today, ask God to help you be a person of faith—one who walks by faith and not by sight. Stay sensitive to the Spirit of God, and live according to the principles in His Word. Embrace the challenges God gives you. Do not fear the world or what others might say.
