Every Thought

Many people’s lives revolve around writing their “blog,” while others don’t even know what this word means. Simply, a “blog” is an Internet site where individuals express their thoughts and ideas. Blogs are like online journals where “bloggers” can write about everything from politics to relationships.

Advertising Age magazine reports that there are about 15 million active blogs read by 57 million people, a number growing by thousands each week. Many bloggers spend hours each day writing their blog or responding to other blogs. Some blogs have gained considerable influence as sources of information and expressions of different viewpoints.

Why have blogs become so powerful? Experts observe that blogs typically feed on the importance people place on themselves. Many bloggers aren’t concerned with Truth, but just expressing their own thoughts, feelings, and opinions. It’s about “what’s in it for me.”

In one way, blogs provide a way to share our faith and exchange ideas. Yet blogs also can be a symptom of a troubling trend in our society: Millions of people have embraced relativism and reject the idea of absolute Truth. Instead of basing their lives on God or His Word, they allow themselves to be shaped by the opinions of others, even through forums like blogs. In the process, our culture reminds us of the days of the Judges when “there was no king” and “everyone did what was right in his own eyes” (Judges 21:25).

Today, heed Paul’s counsel to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Remember that there’s only one Truth. One Gospel. One Lord. Make sure to submit to Him and declare Him Lord of every area of your life!
