Do Good and Share

When we choose to do good and share, we reflect God’s heart and please Him with sacrifices that bless others and bear lasting fruit.

“Through Him then, let’s continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips praising His name. And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”—Hebrews 13:15–16 NASB

Why does God bless us? Yes, to meet our needs, free us from burdens and cares, and let us enjoy His creation. But the Bible tells us that He also blesses us, so we can be a blessing to others—not hoarding, but sharing.

God promises to bless us abundantly when we use His gifts to bless others. Although He knows this might involve personal sacrifice and cost us something, “God is pleased” when we give to others and share what He’s given us.

We’re also to be thankful people—grateful for all that He’s done for us. We owe everything to Him, and without Him, we have nothing. Hebrews tells us that we’re to continually offer praise to His name, not taking His bounty for granted.

As we give, God promises to give back to us. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).

How are we blessed when we give? First, we reap what we sow. As we give to others and to His Kingdom, God brings us a bountiful harvest. Second, we have the satisfaction of knowing that our gifts have helped meet the needs of others. And third, we know that we have pleased God.

Today, ask God to help you be a more generous giver. Sow into the lives of others. Look for opportunities to do good. Reach out and be a blessing to the people around you.
