Death Can’t Hold Him

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

In Death Can’t Hold Him, Peter’s Pentecost message reveals a Savior no grave could contain—and reminds us that nothing is impossible with God.

“This Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified … God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it” (Acts 2:23–24).

People throughout the Roman Empire could not understand why anyone would worship Jesus. In fact, many Romans thought Christians were odd or even insane. As historian Frank McLynn explained, they developed these attitudes because Christians “worshipped a man who had been crucified as a political criminal.”

In the eyes of the world, Jesus was dead. He had been proven to be a failure, someone about whom they no longer needed to be concerned. Yet in ways they could not understand, His influence continued to spread. People in every corner of the empire were talking about Him and becoming His disciples. And His followers were becoming bolder.

As Peter told the crowds in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost, no one in the world could understand the power of God, power so great that it even could overcome death.

Nothing is too difficult for God. We have a Savior who could not be contained even by death. God can do anything. No problem is too severe. No situation is hopeless. No disease is incurable. No obstacle is insurmountable.

Ask God to give you a revelation of this resurrection power in your life. This is not a theory but a fact that can change your life. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available for you right now! Don’t let anything discourage you. Never give up hope. Be bold. All things are possible!

Reflection Question: Where do you need God’s power to renew your hope today?

Prayer
Father, I commit these difficult situations to You. I believe Your resurrection power can change anything. Thank You that nothing is impossible for You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
