Celestial Guidance

“When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.”—Matthew 2:9

How can birds know precisely where to go on their migratory journeys? Intrigued by this question, scientists recently discovered that migrating birds use Earth’s magnetic field lines and other unique biological patterns to help guide them to precise destinations.

Some birds are known to fly on a nonstop flight lasting as long as seven days and nights across the Pacific Ocean. Others have shorter journeys but are no less miraculous. These birds have no maps and no one to train them. Yet for thousands of years, thousands of birds have safely navigated these incredibly complex journeys, unique to each species.

How do they find their way? How do they know what to do? These birds have built-in skills. They have plugged into God’s incredibly precise and complicated navigational process.

God has created the world in such a way that we can tap into His guidance system. The wise men who brought their gifts to the baby Jesus had skills that had been honed by generations. They simply followed the stars that guided them so precisely that they were led to a solitary stable in the tiny town of Bethlehem, thousands of miles from their home.

In many miraculous and specific ways, God can guide each of us to make the right decisions and know where to go. He can lead us on the right path. Remember, God has a plan for your life. Trust your life to Him.
