A New Dimension

During the three years he spent with Believers in Ephesus (Acts 20:31), Paul taught them many things. Surely, he provided them with a strong spiritual grounding, and a good understanding of the Gospel.

Yet his letter to them is filled with reminders of something more. A deeper dimension. Regardless of what they knew, there was much more to learn. Regardless of how much they understood, there was much they did not understand. Regardless of what they had experienced about God’s power, much more was available.

They might have thought that they had faith and could imagine great things. But, no matter what they had asked in prayer, it was not big enough. For God was “able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.”

They might have thought that these dimensions were possible for Paul, but not ordinary Believers. But he reminded them this was a power that “works within us.” It was a power from God, available to all Believers.

This continued a theme that ran throughout his letter. For Paul had prayed they would experience “the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.” And to realize that this was true for all Believers (Ephesians 1:15-23). We just need to believe!

These truths apply to all of us, no matter how long we have been Believers. No matter what we have experienced, we have only scratched the surface of all God can do. There is so much more to learn. And we must be prepared to shatter every limit we have imposed on Him. For He can do much more than we can imagine.

Pray, with Paul, that God would open your eyes. That you might be able to go deeper. Deeper into new dimensions.
