Trusting God for a Home: One Family’s Year of Answered Prayers

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries7 Minutes

Pastors David and Valerie had spent years helping others find their place in God’s family. But in this season, the Holy Spirit was stirring them to trust Him for something deeply personal—their own family’s future.

A Seed Sown in Faith

Their small apartment had served them well, but they began praying for a home of their own. As they prayed, they were encouraged by the generosity Jesus describes in Scripture:

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap” (Luke 6:38).

As an act of faith, they sowed their first $58 Seed into the work of Inspiration Ministries—trusting God not only to hear their prayer, but to provide in His perfect timing.

A Home Beyond Their Wildest Dreams

Within weeks, they met a realtor who mentioned a neighborhood that seemed perfect for their family. The moment they saw it, something clicked.

“Soon, we found ourselves living in a home beyond our wildest dreams!” Valerie says. “We have the three bedrooms we need, a winding staircase, a fireplace, a basement, a two-car garage, and even a sunroom! God gave us more than we dared to imagine. We couldn’t be happier.”

Their new address was a living picture of Ephesians 3:20—God “is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think.”

The Harvest Multiplies

But their testimony didn’t stop there. Just months later, David and Valerie were able to purchase an investment home. They remodeled it themselves and sold it for a significant profit.

“It still amazes me,” Valerie says. “We went from apartment living to owning two homes in just six months.”

Then came another answer to prayer. Their son was facing academic challenges, and they were told it would be months before he could enter the program he needed. But as they kept trusting God and faithfully sowing, they received unexpected news: his application had been moved to the front of the line.

Today, he’s thriving in the school he needs—right in their own neighborhood. God knew exactly where their family needed to live.

Sent to Serve: A Church Is Born

At the same time, David and Valerie launched a new church in their community. David now pastors, while Valerie ministers through both music and the Word.

One of their very first members? The realtor who had helped lead them to their dream home. She had been praying for years that God would send a ministry to that part of town. In God’s providence, the family who had been praying for a home became part of the answer to another believer’s prayer.

“In less than a year, we saw every need met,” Valerie says. Today, as Inspiration Partners, they continue to sow into God’s work, grateful to help share the Gospel with millions worldwide.

Your Step of Faith

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).

The same God who faithfully provided for David and Valerie is able to meet your needs according to His will and His perfect wisdom. Whatever you are facing in your finances, health, emotions, or family, bring your need before Him in faith, stand on His Word, and continue walking in obedience. If God is leading you to give, you can sow a seed into His Kingdom and help share the Gospel with people around the world.

Sow Your Seed of Faith

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to sow a seed of faith?

Sowing a seed is giving to God’s work as an act of faith, worship, and obedience, trusting Him as your Provider while leaving the outcome in His hands. Scripture pictures giving as planting: “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness” (2 Corinthians 9:10).

Does God only answer prayer when we give?

No. We cannot purchase God’s love, favor, healing, provision, or answers to prayer. Salvation and every good gift come from His grace. Biblical giving is an act of worship, faith, and obedience in response to God’s goodness—not a payment for His blessing. Scripture teaches that God provides for His people so they can continue to abound in generosity and good works: “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

How can I sow a seed through Inspiration Ministries?

You can give securely online through our giving page. Every seed helps share the Gospel with millions worldwide through media outreach, discipleship resources, and our Prayer Center.

What should I do while I wait for my harvest?

Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep doing good. “In due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). Trust God with the outcome, knowing that He is faithful and that His purposes are always good. Like David and Valerie, remain attentive to the doors He opens and willing to follow wherever He leads.
