Serving Others as the Hands and Feet of Jesus

See how serving others as the hands and feet of Jesus reflects His teaching that serving the least is serving Him, calling us to live with compassion and invest our lives in His Kingdom.

“‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, … a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?’ … ‘As you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me’” (Matthew 25:37–40).

How can we be ready for Jesus’ return? To help answer that question, He told a parable shortly before His crucifixion. Jesus said He would reward people who demonstrate compassion for others, proactively looking for opportunities to reach out to the least and the lost.

When Jesus returns, He’ll give this message to all faithful servants who have used their resources to meet the needs of others: When you “did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” They will have demonstrated their attitude toward Him by helping the naked, the hurting, the hungry, and the thirsty.

Sadly, others will not be rewarded, but judged. Why? Because they didn’t think about others, but only themselves. Instead of generously giving to those in need, they hoarded their possessions.

We need to realize that God has blessed us so that we might bless others, using the resources He’s given us to help those in need. We are the hands of Jesus, and He looks to us to care for the least and the lost. When we do, He promises to reward us: We will reap a great harvest of blessings (Proverbs 19:17).

Make sure you are ready for Jesus’ return. Be faithful with the resources He’s given you. Cast off every distraction and boldly invest your resources into God’s Kingdom. Let Him use you to meet desperate needs around the world.
