Walking in Truth Before God

As we commit to walking in truth before God, Leviticus 6 reminds us that integrity flows from reverence for Him, shaping our words, actions, and relationships with faithful honesty.

“If anyone sins and commits a breach of faith against the Lord by deceiving his neighbor … oppressed his neighbor or has found something lost and lied about it, swearing falsely … all the things that people do and sin …” (Leviticus 6:2–3).

Some people live as though God doesn’t exist, as if He never gave His Word, and as if they can do or say anything without consequences. Alas, even some believers act this way.

But God makes it clear that our relationship with Him should be the focus of our lives, and this will change everything! It will transform how we think and act, our goals and standards, our motives and priorities. This transformation begins when we become new creatures in Christ: “The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The Bible tells us that God’s people represent Him! That means we need to be trustworthy, always keeping our word, always honest.

Sadly, some people don’t understand these truths. They feel justified in resorting to deception, saying or doing anything to gain an advantage, even lying. Some are willing to ignore or intentionally violate His Word if they feel this would bring them gain or benefit. What is the basis for this way of deceitfulness? It stems from sin in our hearts when we’ve acted “unfaithfully against the Lord” (NASB).

Make God and His Word your foundation and the focus of your life. Seek to please Him. Serve and obey Him. Be on guard against any temptation to cheat or deceive. Ask Him to free you from sin and help you to be faithful. Be honest in your actions and attitudes. Speak the truth!
