Time of Harvest

Celebrate a Time of Harvest

David CerulloBy David Cerullo3 Minutes

As the Feast of Tabernacles reminds us of God’s presence in the wilderness and His promise of return, Celebrate a Time of Harvest helps us embrace the joy, gratitude, and anticipation this holy season brings. Discover why this appointed time still matters for believers today.

What Is the Feast of Tabernacles?

In the fall, we celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles—a part of the Jewish Fall festivals called The Days of Awe. This feast emphasizes the longing for God to dwell with His people. The tabernacles or booths that Jews build during this festival signify both how God was with them in the desert wandering of the Exodus, and how He is with us today.

The Feast of Ingathering and Sukkot are other names for this time because it is a celebration of the final harvest before the New Year. Many theologians believe that this feast, which begins with Rosh Hashanah, has not had its New Testament fulfillment. They believe when the Trumpet of God sounds as the Messiah returns that this feast will be fulfilled.

Sounding the Shofar

The Bible speaks of two significant times when God Himself sounds the shofar. The first time on Mount Sinai when God entered into covenant with Israel and gave them The Law. The second time will be at the return of the Messiah.

A Time of Joy and Expectation

So the Feast of Tabernacles is a time for Christians and Jews to look to Heaven with anticipation for the return of Jesus—Yeshua—the Messiah, promised of God.

I pray you will experience the blessings of this season of joy as you celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles with expectation of Christ’s soon return.

Reflection Questions

  • How can you celebrate Tabernacles today?
  • What does it mean to you that God longs to dwell with His people?

  • In what ways have you seen God’s presence sustain you through your own wilderness seasons?

  • How can you live with greater anticipation for Jesus’ return?

Every gift matters. Each seed sown in faith during Tabernacles reaps a double portion.
