Knowing God’s Principles

As the Israelites began their journey toward the promised land, God established the principles He wanted to be the foundation of their lives. He gave them rules, not to punish them but to teach them how to be successful. How to be productive and receive His blessings.

We see the same idea expressed throughout His Word, which was given so that we might know what to do, and how to live. That we might know God’s standards and expectations.

The fact is that, if we want to experience the richness of God’s blessing, the fullness of His Spirit, the abundance of His creation, and the power of His Spirit, we must start with God Himself. We must begin with the realization that “I am the Lord your God.”

We see this realization as Moses encountered God in the burning bush (Exodus 3). When Moses asked Him what he was to say to the Israelites about Who had sent him, God replied, “I AM WHO I AM…you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you’” (Exodus 3:14).

Influenced by other people and the things of this world, we may decide to go our own way, and believe what they believe. To allow their questions and doubts to penetrate our minds and hearts, and shape our thoughts. But we must never forget this truth: That He alone is “the Lord our God.”

We need to bow and honor Him. Put aside all questions and doubts, and worship Him. This provides our foundation and opens the doors to His blessings. This puts all of His laws and commandments in context. It leads to a new understanding of His principles and life itself. It is the gateway to wisdom and power, revelation and peace, fulfillment and joy, purpose and meaning.
