You Will Be Free Indeed

Are you living life free? Truly free? According to John 8:36, a life lived in spiritual freedom is a life lived in victory. It’s a life lived totally submitted to Jesus Christ as your Lord.

Although you have access to complete freedom the minute you receive Christ, you can’t walk in the full reality of that freedom overnight. This is part of your sanctification process . . . it’s the Holy Spirit working in your life to make you become like Jesus. It’s something that must be worked out over time and requires lots of practice.

In the process, you need to pay attention to how you are living and renew your mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:2). This happens as you learn more about Him and spend time in His presence.

Our freedom is directly correlated to our relationship with Christ. But sadly, many of us say we’re Christians yet are still bound up in things that don’t measure up to what the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 about Christian love.

How many of us really evaluate ourselves in light of what Scripture says? Paul tells us in The Message version:

Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in your faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it (2 Corinthians 13:5).

So how do we measure our love for God and our freedom in Christ? We look at our lives and ask, “What does my life reflect? When people see me, do they see a reflection of God’s glory . . .or just my own human imperfections?”

Each of us has been uniquely created to reflect God’s glory (2 Corinthians 3:18). He has placed within us talents and abilities specific to each of us – as individuals. We can be free indeed!

As your relationship with the Lord grows and matures, you’ll find yourself yielding more and more to Him. Then your reflection will look more and more like Jesus. This is where the evidence that you’re living in real freedom becomes so obvious.

Press into the Lord and discover new places of freedom in Him! If you know someone who could find encouragement from this article, share it with them so they too can experience new freedoms.
