Taking the Limits Off of God

Taking the Limits Off of God

If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. – Matthew 17:20

When I read Jesus’ words about the power of our faith to move mountains, it always puzzles me that we so often put limits on what God can do. Maybe it’s not conscious, but in the back of our minds we seem to doubt that God would ever perform a miracle for us or through us.

I’m convinced that this kind of thinking grieves the heart of God. He’s capable of doing anything, at any time, and He can use whoever He wants to get the job done.

The Bible is full of God’s promises to us, and every one of them is just as true today as it was when the Bible was written. Yet many people say the day for miracles is gone, claiming that God only did miracles in the Bible days.

Thankfully, the Lord never put any limitations like this on Himself! In fact, He declares that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). God’s miracle-working power has never changed—it is just our faith that has changed.

The Impossible Is Possible

Perhaps you are going through things in your life that look impossible to overcome. Maybe you or someone you love is battling a serious disease. Or maybe you need a financial miracle or reconciliation with a friend.

But no matter what you may be facing, remember this: Our impossibilities are God’s possibilities. Our Master made the incredible declaration that nothing will be impossible to us when we believe His promises and speak in faith to the “mountains” in our lives.

My friend, ask God to search your heart today to see if you’ve limited Him and put Him in a box. Instead of focusing on your problems, turn your eyes upon Jesus and meditate on faith-building verses like this in the Word:

Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You (Jeremiah 32:17).

You Can Change the World!

When you grasp the amazing truth that nothing is too difficult for God, you suddenly become a world-changing person. Instead of being a victim, you become a victor, because God is your mighty Warrior in the battles of life.

Satan may tell you that you’re not good enough or smart enough or strong enough. He might remind you of past mistakes and failures. But remember that the devil is a liar and the father of all lies (John 8:44). When he reminds you of your past, you can remind him of his future!

God sees you as a champion. He wants to use your life to change the world for His glory. Your job description is not merely to survive, but to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons!

All God asks is that you be willing and available to Him. As you believe His promises and submit your life to Him, He will use you to do the impossible.
