Jesus Is the Door to Our Salvation

I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your old men will dream dreams,
And your young men will see visions.
In those days I will pour out my Spirit
Even on servants—men and women alike.

Have you ever had a glimpse, or some may call it, an open vision? It is a mini-movie manifesting itself right before your eyes. It may only last a few seconds, or it could last longer, up to a few minutes. The Bible has over one hundred verses that talk about vision. In fact, for those who dismiss prophecy as unimportant to modern times, twenty-eight percent of the Bible is prophecy.

In Habakkuk 2:3, the Word of God talks about vision. “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”

Since early childhood, I have seen glimpses of different scenes. I thought everyone had mini-movies playing for them. As a youngster, I saw the location of my second open-heart surgery. Granted, it didn’t seem important at the time, and it was quickly forgotten, until at the age of forty-four being wheeled into the hospital on a thin metal gurney by the EMTs. I was astonished and realized this was the scene, the location, of the vision from my childhood.

The ambulance drivers must have thought the heart issue was creating a lack of oxygen to my brain as I rambled on about my earlier vision. They just didn’t understand. When a person has a vision, it doesn’t go away, it continues to move toward reality until God’s timing brings it to fruition.

You may be thinking, “What’s the point, Theresa?” Well, I want to share my most recent vision with the hope it will bring urgency to reach people for Jesus Christ before it is too late.

The vision showed a pure white large wooden door. The door had no handle, knob, or window. There was a clear bright, almost blinding white light on one side of the door. Standing in perfect formation in the light was an army of soldiers. Warriors in battle gear. They all wore polished silver breastplates over their chest. They reminded me of the Bible verse in Isaiah 59:17, “He put on righteousness as a breastplate.”

Underneath their breastplate was what looked like a bright red Under Armor fitted shirt. They all looked fit and ready to do what they were created to do. The army of warriors were all standing at attention waiting for instructions from their commander.

On the other side of the door was complete darkness. Looking more closely into the darkness was more than unpleasant, I had to look away! Then the vision was over.

Being no expert on visions, the Word of God is my source for insight and revelation; prompting the Holy Spirit to reveal what needs to be known. Even with the divine perspective, vivid colors, and my own thoughts about the probable meaning, the Word and prayer are trustworthy and true. While studying the Word there were several verses on the word door. Many of the verses refer to Jesus Christ as being the Main or Only Door to salvation.

“I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:9-10).

Who are the soldiers? WE are the soldiers of salvation! We are called to pick up the sword of truth, which is the Word, piercing the hearts in darkness with a burst of His Glorious Light. We will also be called soldiers of sacrifice, facing rejection and persecution. Yet, all the while rejoicing in our suffering, knowing the battle is already won!

Romans 8:36-37 tells us, “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

While the contrast cannot be starker, darkness versus light, acceptance or rejection, eternal bliss or suffering abyss, God chose us to deliver this salvation message to the people. We are asked to throw a lifeline to those perishing in the darkness. There are only so many times Jesus will knock on the door of our heart. The time for salvation is now, not after the big game, or when it is convenient, NOW!

Jesus has given us His living Word to share with others. Are we doing this? Are we coming alongside young believers and helping them mature in the ways of the Lord. Or, once a person is saved do we shake their hands, tell them to read the Word, and hope they work things out? Let’s face it, our culture is on a ventilator with Satan trying to pull the plug to the power! We need to get real and urgent about Jesus! The time is slipping away for a lot of lost souls.

My friend, that door is still available to you, but one day it will be shut, and it will be too late. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut (Matthew 25:10).

No sadder words, “what might have been.”
