Fishers of Men or Keepers of the Aquarium?

If someone asked you where the most important battle lines are being drawn in our society, what would you say? The schools? Government? Private industry? Families? As important as each of these areas is, none of them represents the root cause of most problems in our culture today. Sure, we can easily find negative symptoms in these areas, but these are largely an outgrowth of a different battlefront. Today’s fiercest and most crucial battlefield involves TV, radio, and other forms of electronic media.

This strategic battlefield affects every other area of society! The schools…government…private companies…families—all of these areas, and more, are powerfully influenced by media. For more than 50 years, the media’s predominant message of darkness has torn at the moral fabric of our society and negatively influenced the attitudes, values, beliefs, and behavior of millions.

Every time we turn on the TV, we invite this battle right into our homes. Most television today is controlled by people who oppose Christian values and who believe there should be no moral constraints. Television producers pride themselves in stretching the boundaries of taste, constantly seeking new ways to shock and arouse the senses. The world calls it entertainment, but it’s nothing more than spiritual darkness.

Have We Already Surrendered?

Tragically, millions have become numb to this darkness. It’s our nation’s most critical battlefield, yet most people—even professing Christians—have apparently resigned themselves to allowing the darkness to win!

What society once considered morally unacceptable is now broadcast on primetime television every night. The painful impact is felt through divorce, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, crime, abortion, violence, suicide, hatred, and so much more. That’s why we MUST engage the enemy on this vital battlefront—and why we MUST WIN!

Darkness can only be defeated by LIGHT. Lies can only be defeated by TRUTH. That’s why the most powerful thing in the world is a thought, for “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). Since we become what we think about, whoever controls our thoughts will ultimately controls us.

Today’s electronic media is the central battlefront of our times, shaping how we think and having a major influence on our families, communities, and nation. As “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2), Satan spreads spiritual darkness over much of the music and television that comes into our homes every day. He gains access to our hearts by filling the airwaves with perversity, foul language, and twisted sexuality. Through repetition, the world’s warped messages are relentlessly drummed into our minds and hearts, and we inevitably become what we listen to and watch.

We Can Turn the Tide for Righteousness!

This is no time to surrender the airwaves to the enemy! When we focus our resources on the true battlefront, victory is possible. Light will always defeat darkness if the Lord’s people are courageous enough to engage in battle!

God has given Inspiration Ministries a vision to take back the airwaves by raising a righteous standard of high-quality, redemptive programming. We’re committed to using television and other forms of electronic media to make a positive difference in people’s values, beliefs, behavior, and relationships with God.

Remember: The only way we will change the world is to change people’s hearts…To change their hearts, we must change their thoughts…To change their thoughts, we must change what influences their thoughts…and television is one of the most powerful tools to influence people’s thoughts!
