Adding Light to the Darkness in Your Life

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

God asks us, as believers, to follow Him wherever He leads. He asks that we follow Him with a willing heart and arms wide open.

He knows we’re surrounded by struggles, but He promises that some of His richest blessings are just ahead, provided we walk in faith — not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

This doesn’t mean that you should close your eyes to the problems that you’re facing. It simply means to stay focused on Jesus and use Him as the light to guide your journey.

Jesus spoke of this in John 8:12 when He said. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

So how can you stay focused on Him when you’re facing any number of struggles, whether they are financial, emotional, spiritual, or relational? By speaking to Him in prayer and letting Him know you are following Him!

Moving from Darkness to Light

When you speak to Him in prayer, you separate yourself — even for a short time — from the struggles you face — you are wholly focused on giving Him the open heart and arms that He asks.

In doing this, you are also free to extend your hand to Him. He will take it, lead you up any mountain you face, and still be holding it as He leads you back to a place of peace:

Splendor and majesty are before him;
Strength and glory are in his sanctuary (Psalm 96:6).

Prayer means you are willing to surrender to Him, to follow Him, wherever He leads; and that you have faith that He will shine His light into any area of darkness in your life. When you draw close to God, He will draw close to you (James 4:8).

His hand is always outstretched, waiting to hear from you. Isn’t it time you took it?
