Spend Time with Your Father Today!

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, “an estimated 24.7 million children (33%) live absent their biological father.” I do not know about you, but that number is astounding to me.

I know so many great fathers who not only love their children wholeheartedly, but also adore spending time with them and swell with pride at their kids’ successes. They are there to console and lift spirits when a child gets cut from the soccer team, brings home a bad grade, or has their heart broken for the first time.

Children often look to their earthly fathers as role models; therefore, it is important that they learn to love unconditionally, discipline justly, and forgive wholly, just as God does.

“The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him” (Psalm 103:13 NLT).

If you have a father who exhibits all of the qualities mentioned above, consider yourself blessed. Honor him today and every day for the role he has played in your life by passing on what he has taught you.

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6 ESV).

For those who are estranged from their fathers or whose fathers have passed, I pray that you take time this special day to reconnect with God the Father. We are all His children and He loves us all unconditionally.
