Honor and Thank the Veterans in Your Life

The saying “All gave some, some gave all” is widely attributed to Howard William Osterkamp who fought in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart as a member of the U.S. Army. The quote speaks to the sacrifice every member of the U.S. military makes during wartime.

While many members of our country’s armed forces return home to their families, there are a large number who aren’t as fortunate and make the ultimate sacrifice to provide our freedoms and liberties.

The men and women who enlist in the U.S. military know that they may be placed in situations where death is a real possibility and yet they give tirelessly and exhibit the greatest kind of love people can have for one another.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13).

On this Veteran’s Day, we thank God for these men and women. We are grateful for their undying loyalty in preserving freedom so that we may worship and live as we choose.

I pray you will take time today to honor all those in your life, past and present, who have served our country to pay for our freedom – some with their lives.
