From Gang Member to God’s Chosen

From violence, fear, and control to healing, purpose, and peace—”From Gang Member to God’s Chosen” tells the powerful story of a life transformed by the love of Christ. Pablo’s journey from the grip of MS-13 to freedom in God reveals that no one is beyond redemption and no past is too broken for God to restore.

Our mission at Inspiration Ministries: to take Jesus to those who are lost and hurting—people like Pablo, a young immigrant who moved to Los Angeles and landed in the center of the LA ganglands. Fear compelled Pablo to join other El Salvador immigrants, and by age 11, he was actively involved with the notorious MS-13 gang.

A Life Trapped in Fear and Violence

Even among other gangs, the excessive violence and cruelty of the MS-13 members bred fear. Pablo felt safest in the gang even though he confesses that others were not safe from him.“For years, I terrorized people, extorting, manipulating, intimidating, and hurting others.”

During that time, death, destruction, and hopelessness filled Pablo’s world. Gangs couldn’t kill him. Even the justice system couldn’t deter him. He was totally out of control and lost without anyone to guide him to the truth.

When Nothing Else Could Change Him

So, what the police and gang retaliations couldn’t do, God did. Eventually, Pablo contracted an incurable, rare bone disease and felt for the first time what it meant to need a Savior. He was scared, lost, totally alone. That’s when God led him to Inspiration Ministries.

“I began to see life differently. Watching your shows made me think about my wrongdoings.” Pablo’s change took time. Little by little he began letting his guard down and making better choices—pulling away from gang life. “I don’t put myself in wrong situations where people can get hurt or die anymore. I feel closer to God and myself. Thanks for your shows, and God bless you!”
