Are You Prepared for Life’s Emergencies?

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries3 Minutes

Natural disasters often strike without warning, causing devastation and sometimes taking lives. In America, a recent tornado — with a thickness a mile wide and a course that lasted 17 miles — cut its way through one town in the mid-west. In its fury, injuries and fatalities totaled over 200 people, including children, and as many as 13,000 homes were destroyed.

How would you react if an emergency such as this happened where you live? Would you be prepared, or would you find yourself scrambling at the last minute to save yourself, your loved ones, and your home and possessions?

However you struggle in the midst of any emergency, there’s a good chance that you’d also be looking for resources to fortify your spiritual storehouse—the one place that cannot be damaged or harmed, regardless of the type of emergency that strikes.

A Firm Foundation in the Lord

What should your storehouse look like? Depending on your degree of intimacy with the Lord, it can take many shapes and forms; but it should always be built on a firm foundation, grounded in your relationship with Him.

By the sheer nature of anything that is termed “an emergency,” it stands to reason that you never know when it’s going to strike. A tornado is a timely example of an emergency; but what about a heart attack or stroke? What about a car accident? Regardless of the type of emergency, your relationship with the Lord must always be in order.

“Being Busy” is Not an Excuse

Sure, your life may be hectic, but putting God at the top of your list must be your priority. Disasters don’t strike only on Sunday, so why should your time with Him only occur on Sunday? Lift His name in prayer at every opportunity!

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:13 that the “day of evil” will come. That cannot be denied. The secret to surviving it—whether it’s a natural disaster or worse—is having a strong enough relationship with the Lord that His protection will be with you throughout any onslaught of evil.

If you’ve found yourself distracted by living your life day-to-day to the point that your time with the Lord has started to play a secondary role, maybe it’s time to reinforce your stronghold. We’ve provided resources to get you started on your way.
