Your Testimony

“So that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest … since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.”—Hebrews 2:17–18 NASB

Priests of the past performed important services, but they had inevitable limitations. First, they were just humans, with limited understanding and abilities. They could provide opinions, but their experiences were only partial, and their knowledge often was theoretical.

But Jesus is different. He is the Son of God. He is the “heir of all things,” who “made the world,” upholding “all things by the word of His power” (Hebrews 1:1–4). Jesus also has a depth of experience that no priest could match. He “was tempted in that which He has suffered.” He can help us because He really knows what people go through.

Think about this perspective for yourself. God may allow you to go through experiences to deepen your faith and enrich your testimony, so you can speak with greater confidence and authority.

He is giving you opportunities to understand His Word with greater depth, realize why you need to turn to Jesus, be drawn to pray to ask God for discernment to understand the situations you go through, and grasp the depths of biblical principles and why they are so important.

Remember, God is at work shaping your life. You are special to Him, with unique gifts and talents. He is causing “all things to work together for good” (Romans 8:28). He is giving you experiences to teach you, give you credibility, and increase your impact on others. Trust Him!
