Your Testimony

The priests of the past performed important services for God and His people. But they had inevitable limitations. First, they were just humans, with limited understanding and abilities. They could provide their thoughts, share insights, and communicate their understanding of God’s Word. Yet, on many occasions, their experiences were only partial, and their knowledge often was theoretical.

But Jesus was different. He was the very Son of God, the “heir of all things,” who “made the world,” upholding “all things by the word of His power” (Hebrews 1:1-4). Jesus also had a depth of experience that no priest could match. He “Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered.” He could help and understand us, because He really knew what we go through.

Through His example, Jesus demonstrated the importance of personal experience, for each of us. It is one thing to give advice and theoretical answers. It is another thing to be able to draw on the actual events of our lives. In our interaction with others, these experiences give us depth, perspective, and credibility.

Think about this perspective in your life. God may allow you to go through experiences that deepen your faith and enrich your testimonies. So you aren’t just someone with opinions but can speak with confidence and authority.

Remember that God is at work, shaping your life. You are special to Him, with unique gifts and talents. He has a plan for you and is causing “all things to work together for good” (Romans 8:28). And He is giving you experiences to teach you. To give you credibility and increase your impact with others. Trust Him!
