In a world populated by seven billion people, does one person matter that much? Many, even Christians, feel they cannot make a difference. In the US for example, more than an estimated 40% of Christian adults did not even vote in the recent presidential elections. Obviously, many don’t think their vote matters.

But history is filled with examples of how one person can change the course of a nation. In 1868, one vote in the US Senate saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment.

In 1916, if presidential hopeful Charles E. Hughes had received one additional vote in each of California’s precincts, he would have defeated President Woodrow Wilson’s reelection bid. In 1955, the mayor of Huron, Ohio, was elected to office by one vote, as was the mayor of Odin, Minnesota in 1959.

Yes, one vote really does matter. Each person matters.

As Christians, we need to remember that we are part of the body of Christ and each person has a unique role. The body cannot succeed or be healthy unless each person fulfills their calling—that includes you.

Remember you are part of the body of Christ with a special role to fill! You have a special destiny. God has placed you in a special position and given you special assignments and special gifts and talents. Make sure you do your part. Your life matters. Your testimony matters. Your prayers matter. Your vote matters. You matter.
