Your Hope

What is your view of the future? Are you encouraged? Discouraged? Worried? At peace? Are there issues that cause you concern? What will the coming year hold for you and your family? For the world?

Each of us faces these issues in our own way, and even as Believers, we can find ourselves plagued with questions. We can become overwhelmed with turmoil and uncertainty. We can find our thoughts being shaped by the world around us.

But in the midst of every situation, we need to consider Paul’s reminder that God has a special calling on the lives of every Believer—a unique purpose and plan—and He is with us all the time.

As we trust in God, Paul wanted us to know the hope of His calling. The world may offer us moments of escape, but only God can give us true hope, a peace that passes understanding, and a confidence to carry us through any circumstance.

Yet this hope only can be grasped through revelation. This is why Paul prayed for Believers to fully understand the spiritual dimension and realize the depth and extent of all God has given us.

Today, pray Paul’s special prayer. Thank God for all He’s done for you. Pray that He would give you “the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.” Pray that “the eyes of your understanding” would be enlightened. Ask God to allow you to “know what is the hope of His calling.”
