Your Heart’s Desires

What are your desires? Do you have unfulfilled dreams? Goals that have not been achieved? The world is full of advice on how to set goals and fulfill your dreams. But the Bible provides an approach that works, a way to receive “the desires of your heart.”

The door to lasting fulfillment comes when we don’t focus on our personal desires but seek first the Kingdom of God. He knows us better than we know ourselves. As we seek Him, He promises to provide our every need (Matthew 6:33).

A thousand years before Jesus spoke those words, David expressed a similar principle. He realized that God knows that we all have “desires and secret petitions.” And He can help us receive all we desire. How? By delighting in Him!

What is meant by this kind of delight? The Hebrew word suggests being soft and flexible. We need to be like clay, ready to be shaped by the Lord, available for Him to mold, and confident that He will sculpt our lives in the best possible way.

Submit your life to God. Dare to believe His Word is true! Focus on Him. Seek to do His will. Let Him mold you according to His design. Be soft and pliable. He might shape you differently than you might imagine. But believe His Word. Trust Him to give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
