Work of Excellence

Why was Bezalel chosen to oversee the building of the tabernacle, ark, and other precious objects? God prepared him for this assignment and gave him the necessary skills. God declared him a master. Gifted with wisdom and intelligence, he approached this special work thoughtfully, developing plans and pondering the best way to accomplish each task.

While blessed with practical abilities, he also could be innovative, developing new ways to do things if necessary. And he had high standards. Knowing that he was working for God, he sought to create objects of excellence and beauty.

But these human traits and skills were not enough. He could create extraordinary objects and furnishings for the tabernacle because he was filled with God’s Spirit. Bezalel is a model for us. Like Bezalel, we, too, must realize that God has chosen us. He has given us special assignments and prepared us for these assignments. He calls us to excel in every task. We need to be sensitive to
the leading of His Spirit.

The Bible teaches us that everything we do should be done “heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” (Colossians 3:23 NKJV). This means working with excellence, bringing Him glory through our lives.

Seek to bring glory to God in everything you do. Don’t be content with good enough, but do every task with excellence, seeking to honor Him.
