Awesome Wonders and Signs

Some think of the apostles as superhuman, but, in fact, they were ordinary people. After the Holy Spirit fell on them, however, “many wonders and signs were taking place.” Earlier, Jesus had told them that those who believed in Him would do “greater works than these…because I go to the Father” (John 14:12). The apostles proved that this was true!

The crowds were amazed and filled with “awe.” Unsolvable problems were being solved. Incurable diseases were being cured. These untrained men were speaking articulately, with supernatural wisdom.

So what would the apostles do if they were alive today? Would they be content with the ordinary, with the status quo? From the pages of the Bible, we can almost hear them tell us their experience: There are no reasons to limit what God can do! In fact, we should expect “many wonders and signs” in our lives!

Is this possible today, in your life? Absolutely! But what will it take? What must you do?

Like the apostles, start with your personal relationship with Jesus. Spend time with Him. Pray. Listen to His voice. Grow in your knowledge of the Word. Make sure that you serve Him and are faithful with what He has called you to do. And, like the apostles, ask God for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit! Let Him guide you.

Don’t be content with a powerless, mediocre faith. Be like those early apostles who were obedient, faithful, filled with faith, humble, and unafraid. Always be ready for the leading of the Holy Spirit to pray, testify, encourage, and show God’s love. Ask God to give you boldness.

Remember: You serve the God of miracles! For Him, nothing is impossible! He has not changed. He never will!
