Why Ezra Was Different

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

Like the other Jewish exiles in Persia, Ezra experienced the pressure to conform to this hostile culture. It would have been natural to feel discouraged and hopeless. To yield to pressure.

Facing these difficult circumstances, others may have conformed or given up hope. But Ezra was different, and he had a different perspective. Why? Because he had committed his life to serve God.

He was different because he studied God’s law. He was dedicated to know and understand all God had to say. Others may have focused on current events and daily life, but Ezra filled his mind with God’s thoughts. As a result, he was transformed.

More than just knowing God’s Word, He put it into practice. He didn’t need to engage in debates for he knew God’s Word was true. He also taught the Word to others, sharing the insights God gave him.

These are central reasons why he accomplished so much for God’s Kingdom. But this kind of impact is possible for anyone who is dedicated to seeking God, who obeys Him and thoroughly studies His Word.

This commitment can give us discernment in confusing times and a Godly perspective on circumstances. This can help us stay free from ungodly influences. This can make us more sensitive to God, allow Him to shape our lives, and prepare us for the work He has called us to do.

Ezra’s example reminds us of Paul’s teaching that we are not to “be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

Ask God to help you learn from Ezra. Renew your commitment to seek God, and serve Him. Fill your life with His Word. Be ready to teach others. Don’t be dominated by the culture around you but stay focused on Him.
