Where to Get Your Confidence

In his study of civilization, scholar Kenneth Clark discovered the impact of confidence. He found that a lack of confidence prevented exploration. Without confidence, people were shackled to their past and prevented from growth and discovery.

Confidence has been a major factor in the great breakthroughs of human history. Clark wrote that civilization “requires confidence—confidence in which one lives, belief in its philosophy, belief in its laws, and confidence in one’s one mental powers.”

Throughout history, confidence has provided fertile ground for creativity to flourish, for business to be conducted, for people to follow their dreams, and for exploration to take place.

The same principle is true for our Christian lives. A lack of confidence can be crippling. Without confidence, we can feel helpless, defeated, insecure, and weak. We can be reluctant to take steps of faith. Without confidence, we are vulnerable to manipulation and deception, and more easily can become discouraged.

Everything changes when we are confident. But we need to be sure that we’re confident in God, not in others or in our own strength.

People will fall short and fail us. But, as Solomon wrote, “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence.” We also need to realize that the devil continually seeks to undermine our confidence. He knows that if we have complete confidence in God, we will accomplish great things for His Kingdom.

Do you lack confidence? Do you feel weak and inadequate? Right now, turn to God. Realize that He loves you. Ask Him to reveal His plan for your life.

God will protect and guide you. He wants to be your strength. Trust in Him. Let Him give you His confidence!
