When the Resurrection Becomes Proof

Eyewitness testimony changed everything for Jesus’ followers, and When the Resurrection Becomes Proof asks how His risen life is now made visible through yours.

“I delivered to you … what I also received: that Christ died for our sins … was buried … raised on the third day … appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred” (1 Corinthians 15:3–6).

No one seemed to believe that Jesus had risen from the dead. Even His disciples seemed to have forgotten that at least five times, He said He would rise again.

When Mary Magdalene and other women came to His tomb, they came to anoint His dead body. Nobody had comprehended what Jesus told them when He said He would be crucified and rise again on the third day. He’d even told them where to meet Him after the resurrection!

What happened to open their minds? Simply this: They became eyewitnesses to the miracle of the resurrection! They saw Jesus, talked with Him, and even touched His nail-scarred body. At one point, the resurrected Christ appeared to more than 500 people at one time.

These eyewitness experiences convinced Jesus’ followers that He was risen indeed! They were so sure that many became martyrs, refusing to compromise or back down. They knew the truth, and it radically transformed their lives.

We can read these accounts and know that Jesus rose from the dead. But perhaps the greatest proof of the resurrection comes to those who have a personal relationship with Jesus, place their faith in Him, and have experienced the power of His resurrection in their own lives.
