When a Simple Touch Changes Everything

“When a Simple Touch Changes Everything” reflects on the faith of those who reached for Jesus in Gennesaret, reminding us that His healing power and compassion remain available for every need today.

“They sent around to all that region and brought to him all who were sick and implored him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well” (Matthew 14:35–36).

The people of Gennesaret had many problems. But when Jesus arrived, they recognized that He could help them, and everyone who simply touched His garment was healed.

He didn’t heal just some of them, give them partial answers, or solve only a few of their problems; everyone who touched the hem of His garment was healed. Everyone!

Today, many people read stories like this and feel that although it may have been true for the people of the New Testament, it couldn’t be true for them. Some just don’t believe that their problems can be solved or that they can be healed. Perhaps they feel inadequate, unworthy, afraid, or unwilling to reach out.

Yet the Bible tells us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He is the same today as He was that day in Gennesaret. He can still heal every disease, solve every problem, give us the wisdom we need in every situation, and enable us to do what seems impossible.

No matter what problems you face, learn from the people who reached out to Jesus that day.

You might have a physical need or feel overcome with stress, depression, or worry. You might have financial needs or a family member in trouble. You may have problems with your marriage or children. Regardless of your problems, reach out to Jesus. Believe. His power is real and available to you—right now!
