Turnaround for a Doubter

Thomas had every reason to believe in the resurrection. He had followed Jesus for three years, and heard Him preach and teach on many occasions. Yet when the other disciples told him they had seen the risen Lord, Thomas could not overcome his doubts.

He remained skeptical for a week, until Jesus appeared among them again. Then, to his surprise, Jesus told Thomas to touch Him…to see His nail-pierced hands and put his hand in His side. Only then did Thomas believe, crying out, “My Lord and my God!”

Because of this personal encounter, Thomas had a turnaround in his life.

Yet many people today still are crippled by doubt. They find it difficult to believe that the Bible is true and that they can experience true fulfillment and freedom by following Jesus. They are unable to experience the joy of the Lord. But, as Thomas discovered, everything changes when someone has a personal encounter with Jesus.

Are there any doubts in your life? Are there things you aren’t clear or certain about? Don’t let them dominate your life. Bring them to Jesus.

You can use your doubts and difficulties as opportunities to deepen your personal relationship with the Lord. Talk with Him. Share your doubts and concerns, and anything that troubles you. Be honest with Him!

But also make a renewed commitment to fill your mind with God’s Word. Declare it to be true in your life, and put it into practice every day.

As you ask Jesus for answers, remember the importance of living by faith. Energized by the power of the Spirit, make Him the Lord of every area of your life.
