Trusting God for Your Turnaround

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

As you wait with hope, Trusting God for Your Turnaround points to the way He works in His appointed times to answer prayer and bring change.

“The LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as he had promised. And Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the time of which God had spoken to him.”Genesis 21:1–2

Moments when everything changes are often called tipping points—when the balance suddenly tips one way or another.

Malcolm Gladwell recounts how sales of a well-known brand of shoes had plummeted dramatically. The manufacturer was ready to give up and shut down production. “But then, something strange happened,” he writes. Without a major campaign, people began wearing these shoes even though they were out of fashion. They were worn by influential executives, celebrities, and models in photo shoots. Word about the shoes spread, and they kept selling.

Within just a year, sales had increased by more than 1,000%. Somehow, at a time when there seemed to be no hope, this “failure” became a huge success. Great turning points like this can come unexpectedly. God specializes in these kinds of turnarounds!

We see one of these miracles when Abraham and Sarah were childless in their old age, without hope of an heir. Then God said they would have a son—something that seemed impossible since Sarah was past the age of childbearing. Yet the miracle took place, and at the appointed time the child was born.

God can turn around any situation. He has not forgotten you. He hears your prayers and will answer them. Stay faithful with the time, talents, and treasures you’ve been given. Don’t be discouraged or give up hope. Trust Him for your turnaround!

Reflection Question: Where do you need to trust God’s timing more deeply?

Prayer
