True Success Comes from God

True success comes from God—just as He was with Joseph, He blesses our work so we can bless others in His name.

“The LORD was with Joseph, so he became a successful man.”—Genesis 39:2 NASB

Joseph arrived in Egypt as a helpless slave. He had no money, friends, or influence, and no one cared that he’d been sold by his own brothers. Yet he became a “successful man.” How did this remarkable transformation take place?

The key was that “the Lord was with Joseph.” God was by his side, directing his steps, protecting him, providing him with wisdom and favor, making “all that he did prosper” (v. 3). He was blessed in every situation, and he used those blessings to bless others.

He blessed Potiphar, who “made him overseer over his house, and put him in charge of all that he owned” (v. 4). As a result, “the Lord’s blessing was upon all that [Potiphar] owned” (v. 5). The blessings kept flowing during Joseph’s time in prison after a false accusation. And eventually, Joseph was a blessing to all Egypt, his family, and people throughout the region as he led them through a time of famine.

God still offers blessings to all who call on His name, trust in Him, and faithfully serve Him. Like Joseph, we must be ready to obey Him and bless others as He gives us opportunity.

Remember that God is with you! He wants to prosper you and make you successful. Be a faithful steward, always ready to invest the resources He’s given you. He has blessed you so that you might be a blessing to others.
