The Angels’ Song

The Song of the Angels

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

A precocious child, Frances Havergal started reading when she was four. Inspired by the example of her father, a noted hymn writer, she began writing poems at age seven. Born in England on this day in 1836, she memorized much of the Bible while just a child and developed a passionate commitment to spread the Gospel.

It is no surprise that she found inspiration in the story of Jesus’ birth. She celebrated by writing a hymn called “Now Let Us Sing the Angels’ Song.” It was a song “that rang so sweet and clear.” We focus on Jesus, “to Him we sing, our Savior King” as we give glory to God for the message of peace on earth.

Havergal knew that Jesus “came to tell the Father’s love, His goodness, truth, and grace.” He came to bring peace and rest to those who are weary. He came to take away guilt and sin. And because He loved us, “Jesus came, for us to live and die.”

She reminded us that the angels were full of praise. But we should not just be observers but participants. We should join in the message declared by angels: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Today, join with believers throughout the world, and the throng around Heaven’s throne. Praise God! Thank Him for sending Jesus into this world! And may your life overflow with praise.
