The Power of God

“‘Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus . . . Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.’” Acts 3:12-16 NKJV

The man had been crippled for a lifetime. Then, suddenly, he was totally healed. And he didn’t just walk but actually was leaping and shouting praise to God. Amazed, people ran to see what had happened, and who had possessed such miracle-working power.

They learned that the miracle had taken place through the ministry of Peter and John. But Peter stressed that there was nothing special about either of them. In themselves, neither had any extraordinary powers or abilities. The key was their relationship with God. The power was His. They simply had been the vessels through which His power had been released.

In fact, Peter reminded them of their history. The source of their power was the same God who had performed miracles for their forefathers. Why were they so surprised? Probably because, in their experience, few people actually had the boldness to believe that He still could perform miracles.

Through this demonstration, God was proving to everyone that His power was real for all who believe on His name, and that Jesus was indeed His Son.

That same power is available for all who believe, and who have the faith to put that belief into action. But we always need to remember that God is the source of the power, not any person.

Right now, you can be bold to approach God for the needs you face. He is the same God who healed the cripple and raised Jesus from the dead. His power is available for you. Believe Him today!

Prayer: Father, I commit these needs to You: _________. Thank You for releasing Your power into these situations. I believe that all things are possible with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
