The Light of the Lord

These were uncertain times. The world was filled problems and his country was surrounded by enemies. As a result, Micah was not sure what to do. It felt like he was surrounded by darkness.
Things were so bleak that it was difficult to have perspective. People had opinions, but it was impossible to distinguish truth from rumor. As a result, he felt hopeless.

But Micah realized that times of personal uncertainty are opportunities to turn to God. He knew that his enemies might have rejoiced over his problems. That he had experienced defeats and still faced danger. But, trusting in God, he believed, “Though I fall I will rise.”

As Micah looked to God, he gained confidence. As he trusted in Him, he could declare, “I will watch expectantly for the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation.” He no longer was uncertain or worried. And he no longer depended on the opinions of other people. He knew that God would hear him, and that he trusted in Him.

This is the confidence that all of us need to have in God. No matter how dark a situation might seem, He is ready to shine His Light on us. He is with us, even in the places that seem darkest, and when circumstances seem hopeless.

He is ready to give us the guidance, direction, and wisdom we need. He is ready to turn defeat into victory. Even if we might have stumbled and fallen, He can help us to rise again, and emerge in triumph.

The Good News is that we don’t have to wait for desperate circumstances to turn to Him. He is ready to provide us with Light any time. All we need to do is turn to Him. Commit our needs to Him. Seek Him. Fill our lives with His Word. And obey Him, step-by-step, day-by-day.
