The God Who Knows the Future

Even while the Israelites still were in bondage in Egypt, God provided Moses with an exact description of the land where He would bring His people. He even gave them the names of the adversaries they would face.

In their journeys, they would discover that the Lord’s promises were true. Yet they often seemed surprised by the events they faced, seemingly unaware of what God had told Moses.

There seemed no reason to be surprised. Had Moses simply forgotten? We can wonder what would have happened if he’d listened more closely and grasped the significance of God’s words.

From this example, we learn how important it is to seek God’s face. We need to listen for His voice and receive His insights and directions. But it also is important to understand what the Lord is saying—to remember His words and heed His warnings. And we must stay faithful and obedient, always knowing that His words are true.

Trusting God means being faithful to His call. If we follow His path, we can know His power as we go into battle. We will need His strength, plans, and favor. But we can be victorious if we trust Him and are faithful to do what He wants us to do.

In your life, make sure that you truly are listening to God. Don’t just read His Word, but study its precepts and meditate on what it says. And when you pray, don’t just talk, but learn to listen. Let God guide and direct you.

Remember: God knows the future, and you can live confidently when your life is in His hands.
