The God Who Delivers: Remembering a Miraculous Victory

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

Miraculous Victory reminds us that the same God who delivered Esther and her people does the same for us today.

“They called these days Purim after the name of Pur … firmly obligated themselves and their offspring and all who joined them, that without fail they would keep these two days according to what was written and at the time appointed every year” (Esther 9:26–27).

Hope was lost. No appeal seemed possible. Every Jew in Persia knew they had been condemned, and the date set for their execution approached. But then a miracle took place.

A Jewish woman, Esther, had become the king’s bride, putting her in a position to influence him. She was there as her uncle, Mordecai, rose to prominence. She helped reveal the true motives of Haman and his evil plot to get rid of the Jews. She was there as Haman was hanged on the gallows he’d built for Mordecai … and as the Jews were delivered.

This was such a miracle that Jews worldwide still pause to remember their deliverance. This celebration, called Purim, reminds us of God’s protection. Psalm 107:6, 20 for example, describe a time when His people cried out to Him during difficult times: “He delivered them from their distress […] and delivered them from their destruction.”

Today, the same God who delivered the Jews in Persia is by your side, ready to deliver you from the trials you face. He can provide breakthroughs to meet your needs. He can solve problems that don’t seem to have solutions.

Cry out to God and seek His help. Remember all the ways He has helped you in the past. He is faithful, and His promises are still true. You may have troubles, but victory is yours through Jesus Christ!

Reflection Question: How has God delivered you when hope seemed lost?
