The Certainty of Knowing God

To the amazement of his brothers, Joseph had become a powerful leader of the entire nation of Egypt. No longer the boy they found irritating, he had become mature and wise, trusted with great power and responsibility. He spoke with confidence, based on a decisive understanding about God and His plans. How had this transformation taken place?

Joseph had been through many difficult experiences. He had been sold into slavery by his own brothers, even though he had done nothing wrong. He had been a faithful slave in Potiphar’s house in Egypt, only to be falsely accused and thrown into prison, where he served faithfully. But he was forgotten, even after interpreting the dreams of Pharaoh’s butler and baker.

Joseph easily could have given up, or become bitter, angry, and resentful. Yet he later realized that God was using these experiences to prepare him for leadership and future blessings. He used his struggles and frustration to shape him as a man and servant. In fact, God used this preparation to save and deliver his family during a time of great famine.

We may face situations in which we feel like God has abandoned us. Things may not seem to be working out. At times like these, we need to remember that He may allow things to happen to help us mature, become spiritually stronger, and gain the experiences we need to serve Him better.

In your life, remember to commit your way to the Lord. Not just once, but every day. Trust in Him, and have confidence in Him in every situation you face.
