Tested

Jesus has such impact in part because of His personal experience.

The Bible declared that He was “tempted.” This was more than just facing opposition. The Greek word here suggests being examined or scrutinized, being able to prove that something is true.

His ministry was spent enduring tests. He faced situations in which He was examined and scrutinized. He continually needed to prove that what He taught would work. Hebrews declares “we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin” (4:15).

His example gives us confidence that He can “come to the aid of those who are tempted” and help us be victorious. Jesus had to endure uniquely intense tests. Moreover, He was able to be victorious through each one in ways that were “without sin.”

The same principle applies to each of us. We need to go through a process of testing and having opportunities for others to examine our lives. Realize that others are scrutinizing our decisions and actions, looking for proof that our beliefs are true, if, in fact, our lives are transformed, and whether the Gospel is real.
