Struggling Family and Friends

The young son wanted to go on his own and asked his father for his “share of the estate.” The father must have known that his son was not fully mature. That he had much to learn. Yet he gave him his share. Then, he watched as his son left. What thoughts filled his mind? Worry? Concern? Fear?

The father was overjoyed and relieved when the son returned home! After squandering his wealth, he had come to his senses. While the son was gone, his father couldn’t have known where he had been or what he was doing. He only could wait and pray. But, all the while, God was with his son.

In our own ways, each of us is on our own journey through life. In our journeys, we make choices decisions. We learn about ourselves and others. We deal with temptation and sin. Some people seem to make the “right” choices fairly easily. Others struggle and even take painful detours that may lead to questionable activities and even sin.

It can be challenging to watch as people we know seem to struggle, and even make mistakes. It can be hard to know what to do or say. These are moments to trust in God.

If you know people who are struggling, remember that God knows everything about them. Pray for them. Commit them to Him. He is faithful to be with them and help them find their way.
