Staying Focused

God knew that eventually Israel would want to be ruled by kings. So, before they entered the Promised Land, He provided instructions specifically to help them choose a king wisely.

First God stressed that each king needed to write his own copy of the law and “read in it all the days of his life.” It was not enough to know about God’s Word. It had to be central to their lives. God knew that His Word would provide focus, keep the kings humble, and give them the wisdom to make the right decisions.

Each of us needs this same commitment to the Word of God. Many Christians have lives marked by doubt. Others are filled with fear and worry or fail to experience victory. To be protected, blessed, and guided by God, we need to read, study, and think about His Word continually. We need to make the Bible personal in our lives every day.

The Bible gives us practical principles that apply in our families and finances, our jobs, and private lives. These principles keep us on the right path, help us stay focused, and prevent mistakes, presumptions, and sin.

Today, the Bible assures us that God wants to bless you and give you wisdom. He wants to guide you. Remember to fill your life with His Word. It will be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105).
