Sow, Serve, and See the Harvest

“Sow, Serve, and See the Harvest” calls us to stop standing still and start faithfully investing what God has given, trusting Him to bring the increase.

“Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty” (Proverbs 28:19).

The Bible teaches the importance of being diligent and faithful to utilize our God-given talents and resources. He desires to multiply these gifts, but this increase comes only after we invest what He’s given us.

The Bible often uses the parallels of a farm and farmer to help us understand these principles. The farmer who does nothing will not reap a harvest. In fact, he will live in poverty and have no food for his family. This is what happens to those who do not work the land.

Here and throughout Scripture, we’re reminded of the importance of investing what God has given us instead of idly standing by. We must realize that if we do nothing, fruit will not appear on its own.

We must be faithful in investing our resources—our seeds—into God’s Kingdom. The Bible tells us, “In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good” (Ecclesiastes 11:6).

As Jesus taught, we are to invest the talents He’s given us—not hide them but use them to bring about an increase (Matthew 25:14–30).

Today, dedicate yourself to till the land—to work and serve, investing the resources God has given you. Give of your time, talents, and treasures. Recognize that you have been blessed that you might be a blessing.
