Shrewd Lies

Adolph Hitler was a master of deception. In his book, Mein Kampf, Hitler wrote, “By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell—and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed.” He built his career out of lying and never hesitated to spread false information in order to advance his objectives.

But Hitler was just an amateur liar compared to Satan, who is the “father of lies.” The devil lies repeatedly and constantly. He lies in every way possible, subtle or direct. He lies about God and His Word, and he even lies about himself. At times, the enemy wants us to believe he is invincible and we are powerless. At other times, he tries to convince us he doesn’t exist, or isn’t so bad, or that he knows what’s best for us!

Satan and his demons are masters at saying things that sound attractive and even logical. People often forget his lying nature and foolishly adopt his lies as the truth. It’s easy to become his victims…without even knowing it.

Today, remember that you live in a world where Satan’s lies are believed by many people around you. You, too, will hear his lies, and it might be difficult to know whether or not they are true. That’s why your life must be grounded in God’s Word. Develop a more intimate relationship with Him. Be filled with His Spirit. Allow Him to shape your mind and show you the Truth.
