Seeing Life Through Eternity’s Lens

When you begin seeing life through eternity’s lens, your life perspective shifts from temporary concerns to lasting impact, urging you to respond to God’s truth while there is still time.

“‘I beg you, father, to send him to my … five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them’” (Luke 16:27–29).

Jesus told the story of a rich man who was in “torment” in hell. From that horrible place, he realized mistakes he’d made in his life. Although it was too late for this man to change his eternal destiny, he was concerned about the mistakes he saw being made by those who were still alive.

He understood that there were consequences to their actions that they didn’t realize, and he begged for something to be done to warn them. But Abraham told him that his loved ones already had been given warnings. Still the rich man pleaded, “If someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!” (v. 30).

Abraham replied, “If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead” (v. 31). In short, the truth was already available. They just needed to listen, obey, and respond.

Many people know about the things of God. They go to church and say that they’re Christians. But what do they really believe? Are they serving God faithfully?

Think about what you will see when you look back on your life. What have you done with the things God has given you? How have you put His promises into practice? What lives have you touched?

Don’t look back on your life with regret. Be faithful to fulfill God’s call. Dedicate yourself to serving Him.
