Ready for a Turnaround

Israel had sinned, and God allowed them to fall under the control of Jabin, king of Canaan. Jabin had an army with superior weapons, including nine hundred iron chariots. He used these advantages to oppress Israel for years. Their situation seemed hopeless.

During that time, Israel was being judged by the prophetess Deborah. One day she summoned Barak, leader of her army. She told him that God commanded him to take ten thousand men and march to Mount Tabor. Then, she gave him a strategy for victory. Her forces would draw out Jabin’s army, and she would deliver them into Barak’s hand. He agreed to move forward – but only if Deborah went with them.

As they approached Mount Tabor, Israel saw Sisera’s mighty army. It must have been an intimidating force. But Deborah knew that God was with them. She told Barak to get ready! God was marching ahead of them. Encouraged by Deborah’s word, the army confidently entered the battle and won a decisive victory. In an instant, their situation changed.

How often we can feel like Israel – outnumbered, facing an enemy with superior resources. Like Israel, we must remember that God is with us. Today, remember that God is on your side. Don’t be timid but commit the problems you face to Him. Trust Him. Obey His Word and seek the leading of His Spirit. Believe that He can turn your situation around. Move forward boldly with faith.
