Pressing On

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

“Let’s press on to know the LORD. His appearance is as sure as the dawn; and He will come to us like the rain, as the spring rain waters the earth.” – Hosea 6:3 NASB

Israel had allowed their lives to be filled with sin. They had turned away from God and gone their own way. He was ready to restore them, but they had choices to make. Hosea told them they needed to “press on to know the LORD.” They could not be passive. This had to be a real commitment.

God allows us to make choices every day. We choose what to do and say, where to go, and what to do with our time and resources. He allows us to reject Him or follow Him. Even if we are Christians, we still can go our own way and not experience all He has prepared for us.

So, what are to do? First, we need to know God. We should not just know about Him but have an intimate, personal relationship with Him. We must spend time with Him, seek Him, and fill our lives with His Word. We need to press on to know Him.

This requires effort and initiative. We need to follow God, be proactive, and be so eager that we will not give up until we are sure we know His will.

Today ask God to help you make the right choices. Commit each decision to Him. Seek Him. Read His Word. Cry to Him for discernment. Don’t be content with less than His best for you. He is waiting to hear from you.

Reflection Question: Make a list of the pros and cons of an upcoming decision you’re praying for.
