Preparing for the Future

How do we prepare for the future? What do we do when we face challenges that seem overwhelming? Jesus gave us a powerful example during the night He was betrayed, just prior to His crucifixion.

First, He made sure He was obeying the Father by celebrating Passover. He spent time in fellowship with the disciples, as He instituted the Lord’s Supper and gave them an example of being a servant.

Then He spent time in prayer. He prayed so intensely that drops of blood fell to the ground.

What problems do you face? What challenges await you on your job, in your community or with your family? Do you have financial needs? Do you need wisdom and guidance? Are you afraid and worried about the future?

Today, follow Jesus’ example. First, make sure that you’re living in obedience to God’s Word. You cannot expect His blessings if you are being disobedient. Also, make sure you have the attitude of a servant and are being faithful with the resources He has given you.

Then seek God in earnest prayer. Be honest and specific. Pour out your heart to Him. Seek His wisdom and guidance. Let Him know your needs and concerns. Keep praying until you have His peace and the burdens have lifted from your life. And let God know that you want His will, not your own. Then you can be confident that you’re ready to face the challenges of the future.
