Power to Prevail
•2 MinutesArriving in the country of the Gadarenes, Jesus was met by two demon-possessed men who were so violent that the entire community reacted to them with great fear. But Jesus wasn’t afraid. He never backed down or hesitated. The men, and the demons within them, knew He was different!
When the demons sensed He was going to do something about them, they asked Jesus to send them “into the herd of swine.” Jesus didn’t need any special preparation, nor did He have to build up to a frenzy. He didn’t make a long speech, but just spoke one word: “Go!” That’s all it took, and the demons were gone!
The Bible teaches that each of us has this same kind of power! Just think: Our words, too, have power. In fact, “death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). Your tongue has the power of “death and life”!
However, our words can be diluted, watered down, and made less effective, so if we want to speak with real power and authority, we must be spiritually strong. We must be filled with the Holy Spirit, in tune with God, free from sinful habits that block His power, and living according to His Word.
Today, remember that God has given great power to you. By faith, you can cast out demons, heal diseases, and receive miracles.
Don’t let doubt poison your heart and mind, but fill your life with God’s Word. Purge your life of sin and anything that separates you from God. Be filled with the Spirit. Worship and praise God. Spend time alone with Him. Don’t doubt. Be bold. Speak with confidence! Believe. Step out in faith!
